National Pet Day is upon us again so take the time to recognize your special pet and all of the pets in need of a loving home. Each year on April 11th pet lovers everywhere take the time to reflect and take action for the benefit of our furry friends.

Animal Shelters

One of the ways you can help is to visit your local animal shelter and donate your time and money. Animal shelters are always in need of volunteers to help feed, love, and clean up after the cats, dogs, and other animals that they rescue. Donations don’t always need to be in the form of money. Bring by cat and dog food, clean blankets and towels, or anything that a shelter may be interested in that will help in the care of animals.

Give Your Pet a Special Day
National Pet Day

Make a special point to spend the day with your pet on National Pet Day

Another great way to celebrate National Pet Day is to plan out a full day of fun and adventure for your pets. Take you dog on a hike! Most dogs love the outdoors and the excitement of exploring new places. Go to the dog park so that your furry friend can interact with other dogs. If the weather is not great, stay at home and watch a movie with your puppy or kitten and give them some extra love by petting and making a fuss over them. The important thing is to give your pet special attention and not just on April 11th but throughout the year.

Adopt a Pet

The best way you can celebrate National Pet Day is to adopt a pet in need. Animal shelters are overwhelmed with cats, dogs, bunnies, and other animals in need of a loving home. Imagine how good you will feel knowing that you made the life of an animal so much better by opening up your home and your heart to a pet. And, imagine how much more fulfilling your life will be when you make this type of addition to your family. There is no better feeling than having the unconditional love of a pet. Join the legions of people who are adopting pets from animal shelters and have embraced the ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ cause.
